Half the money is made in the buy on traffic domains.. if the seller will quote you traffic numbers they likely know what they have and the only upside opportunity for the investor is to improve the name’s implementation over and above the current registrant.. While that is often enough to justify the investment, a truly successful domainer will need to strike on the odd wildcat return where you buy a name for a few thousand dollars that is really worth $100k+ in traffic or resale potential.. Those deals are still out there folks. I am hearing some pretty nice secondary market buys investors are securing from registrants who don’t know or care about what they have. More of that will come as the credit crunch bites in 2008.

Exactly. As long as you’ve got a little capital to start with, then there are plenty of domains out there in “big money” PPC niches that gets lots of traffic but are selling on places like SEDO for only a few thousands bucks. Typically these are 3-word domains that look bad at first glance, but are worth 10X the asking price.
If only I had more money to spend..!
