To Many Ads, Not Enough Dollars?

Publicis, a Major global advertising company, warns there won’t be enough ad dollars for all the new media companies out there.

Josh says: “This is likely true.  I think it’s also worth noting that the fracturing of old school media’s grip on the public’s attention makes the work of companies like Publicis more difficult, and leaves room for smaller and more agile people and companies to fill in and expand the gaps.  Uber compelling services or content or content aggregation rule the day.  Owning domains that receive natural targetted traffic related to what you are doing, adds a strong fundamental with respect to bringing people to your site.”

***FS***  I’d agree and add that in the final analysis ads which lead to sales conversions will “ALWAYS” sell..  We saw it in PPC during the 2001/2 online ad-bust.. PPC text links were the only online advertising left after the Internet crash because it converted to sales.  There is not a sane business person on this planet who will not spend a dollar to make two. That’s basically the bargain that paid search represents.

This is what happened in last bubble, too many websites selling advertising and too few takers.

RedRocket.com, Developed by Nickelodeon for $60 million purchased by me for $10, 5k visitors per day for YEARS.

    It will happen again.

There are too many crappy websites with adsense on them and way too many crappy domains with adsense for domains on them. Both are bad.

    I am not talking about RumCakes.com (Frank’s) DigitalCamera.com (Kevin’s) Candy.com (DomainKing’s) or other quality domains.

These comments are not for the 1 million or so most popular phrases, keyword for purchasing products like “persian rugs” which has meaning for a advertiser.

The type of domains like “war in iraq.tv” granted it will get traffic for 99% of advertisers any clicks from it will be crappy. The 1% that might use it will never bid on that phrase.

I used .tv so as not to upset the owner of the .com which I don’t have a clue who it is.

I am talking about domains that get traffic and people HOPE that click on ad’s like the example above. I won’t name any as people know the domains I talk about.

I predict the end of domain parking in the next 24 months, domain parking will be like banner ad’s only the spammers will advertise on it.

Development has to REAL, not RSS feed’s combined with a video from YouTube.com. Wow that is cool, and of value to a advertiser, not.

All advertising has to be of VALUE to the advertiser first. NOT the domainer nor website.

NOTE: If I typo’ed an idea let me know or update it to mean what I think, typing in this comment box is tough to check.
