Taking TV To The Internet – The November 11th 2007 Turning Point

Quote: “”When a major network turned down Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick’s pilot, they took “Quarterlife” to the Internet…”"

Something big happened today while everybody was looking the other way.. http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1573861&vid=187641 This 3 minute clip is must-see TV for every domainer.. Think about your own shows and your ability to drive traffic to those shows using your “other” names.

Exciting times.

    Hi,

    Very nice and interesting clip.

Along with this and the 2nd part about ‘chips’…things in the next couple years are going to be ‘rocking’.

Here another interesting piece of the ‘puzzle’…

    __
“”In South Korea eight in 10 homes are on broadband and users surf the Internet at an average speed of 45 Mbps.”"
    __

And you thought the US or the EU was on the ‘leading edge’?

Whats your current broadband speed? 2-5 Mbps.?

This is headed our way (amazing faster broadband)… and what it will do for video and the Internet will be truly mind blowing…but do not forget about your old fashion TV just yet…its going to be tagging along for the ride also.

    ‘Exciting times’…Indeed!

    Peace!
    Dan

  2. Frank,
    Greatly appreciate your blog…

A great post for video oriented domainers for sure.

Most domains are likely to be judged 5 to 10 years from now, by the assets stored or linked to.

Video is going to be a deciding factor that young and old will judge a site’s quality. (bandwidth and device permitting of course).

    I am very very encouraged.
Some domainers will make bets on ‘tv’ to left of the dot…and some will make bets on ‘tv’ to the right of the dot…and some will just make bets by having video on the site alone.

    thanks….

For me the video link shows a video that says “Copyright law restricts us from playing this video outside the US” :(

Proof of how the TV dinosaurs are still not quite ready for the net.

And then it makes me wonder, are the Cayman Islands now part of the US, considering they showed the video to Frank S?
