Basic overview of domain leasing. Unless you only need a name for a short time, make sure your lease has a clause to buy it at a certain price. They claim to have 550,000 names online one can lease, and claim to have access to over 4 million names offline. Leases cut both ways… I leased blackgold.com back in 2002 and was exceedingly happy when the lessee chose to let his rights lapse and returned to me. Two years after the end of the lease they came back trying to buy the name but the market for that name was considerable different with oil prices 200% higher.
